Examinations

International Baccalaureate

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous two-year curriculum leading to a set of external examinations taken by students in May of their final year at HIS. Those who satisfy the demands of the IB Diploma demonstrate a strong commitment to learning, both in terms of the mastery of subject content and in the development of the skills and discipline necessary for success in a competitive world.

The IB assesses student work as direct evidence of achievement against the stated goals of the Diploma Programme (DP) courses. DP assessment which includes written examinations, measures the extent to which students have mastered advanced academic skills in fulfilling these goals

As part of our preparations for success in these high-stakes IB examinations, HIS provide students with opportunities to practice their study preparation and examination techniques by holding End of Year exams in Grades 10 & 11 and a week of Mock exams in January of the Grade 12 year.

International Schools Assessment

The International Schools' Assessment (ISA) is a set of standardized examinations for students in our Primary and Middle school classes. These are focused on Mathematical Literacy, Scientific Literacy, Reading and Writing. Designed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), the ISA is based on the assessment frameworks of the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and has been developed in consultation with international schools. ACER has been instrumental in the implementation, management and reporting of large-scale international surveys and brings their experience in these types of assessments to the ISA program.

Cambridge and SAT

HIS is a registered examination center in Heidelberg for the Cambridge and SAT exams. Students from our school can register for these examinations under guidance from the college counsellor.
