A group of grade 7 and 8 students took part in the ISMTF Middle School Mathematics competition at Vienna University on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March.
On Saturday, the students worked through puzzle-style math problems in teams of 3 and enjoyed the House of Musik museum and sights of Vienna. Then on Sunday they competed in the Sunday chase in mixed teams with students from different schools, racing around the city looking for key sights and solving math problems along the way.
A great time was had by all.
“The city was beautiful and the food better than I imagined. The Sunday chase was really hard as a team.”
“Amazing experience for learning math and competing. Hopefully I can go again next year.”
“It was super fun and there were nice people. I wish I could have stayed longer.”
“I really enjoyed the trip; it was really fun. I loved playing boardgames and practising math with everyone.”
“This competition was an eye-opening experience and it was very enjoyable interacting with students from other schools and playing games with various people.”
“I loved this trip! My favourite part was the museum. The competition was hard, but I managed. Least favourite: Going home.”
